I
started bass fishing at the age of 4 with my father.
My first bass tournament was at age 15 on Lake Wallenpaupack in PA. We
took third
(35 boat field)
fishing out of a beat up 16' aluminum boat with a 35 hp
motor that would hardly start. We may have won, but I broke 2 off....
As soon as I graduated college I
bought a green Ranger
R81 (my first official personal bass boat).
People in the Northeast
came to recognize me in that green boat! I fished semiprofessional and larger
regional events for 4 years and then I turned pro at age 27. I
qualified through the Northern Opens for the Bassmaster Tour. I had no
sponsors at the time
(age 27), and wore the
infamous Yankees visor to
show the world that I could promote.
My
desire to make a dream come true was evident , and the support of my wife
helped in so many
ways. It seems to have paid off, but I still work extremely hard for my
sponsors and my family because I know what its like to have little
support. Therefore, I am that much more grateful for those who currently
help my cause or who have helped along the way.
Since starting full-time professional tournament bass fishing in 1998,
Dave Wolak has established himself as one of the genuine superstars of
the sport, and has become one of the most respected anglers in America.
Wolak has won tournaments at all levels, including A Bassmaster American
in 2006. Dave has also competed in the prestigious 2005, 2006 and the
upcoming 2008 BASSMASTER Classic. Wolak has also earned his Elite Card
to compete in the 2008 ESPN Bassmaster Elite Series.
Dave has compiled more than 10 years of knowledge in the study of
bass behavior in the waters around the United States. His success and
experience have earned him the reputation as one of the premiere bass
fishermen to come out of the Northeast.
Dave Wolak is a key member of several Pro Staffs, and has played a
valuable role in designing and testing new products. He has designed
several bass fishing lures, and through his tournament success has
helped popularize many fishing techniques.
